The UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network

The UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network, or ASPNet, is a global network of more than 8,500 educational institutions in 180 countries. Member institutions ranging from pre-schools, primary, secondary and vocational schools to teacher training institutions work in support of international understanding, peace, intercultural dialogue, sustainable development and quality education in practice.

ASPnet schools also serve as international laboratories for experimenting and validating educational materials developed by UNESCO or partner organizations on such themes as ESD, World Heritage and Human Rights. Through twinning with regional and international encounters, ASPnet teachers and students have many opportunities to work together beyond their classroom to develop innovative educational approaches, pedagogical methods and materials from local to global levels in favor of a quality Education for All.

Since 2005, ASPnet activities in the Philippines have actively focused on the promotion of ESD in the school-level. It has organized both national and regional orientations, workshops and entrepreneurial exhibits participated by teachers and students.

ASPnet schools are invited to focus on four main themes of study:

  • World Concerns and the United Nations system
  • Human Rights and Democracy
  • Intercultural Learning
  • Environmental Issues
