UNACOM convenes its Networks for Education for Sustainable Development, on August 22-24, 2024, held in Legazpi City, Albay.
The three-day event was designed for learning sessions and discussions on the progress of stakeholders’ initiatives on the ESD 2030 framework across the member institutions of the UNESCO education-related network in the country, including the Global Network of Learning Cities, Associated School Networks (ASPNet), UNESCO Chair/UNITWIN, Clubs for UNESCO, and UNESCO Entrepreneurial Education Network. It also provided an opportunity to explore and strategize the roles of UNESCO and UNACOM networks in achieving the ESD for 2030 goal. The learning session also stressed the significance of incorporating ESD into educational policies, teacher and educator capacity-building, transforming learning settings, empowering and mobilizing youth, and accelerating local activities to meet sustainable development goals.
During the event, key institutions/agencies/Offices including UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Jakarta, Commission on Higher Education, and Department of Education provided valuable insights and reports that encouraged the participants to pursue programs and projects to support ESD in the Philippines.
